New book

I just published my third book. It should be ready by tomorrow. For those who might enjoy it, here is the description;

The Mother Calls

Mother Earth was frustrated in the calendar year 2006. That had been when she needed her guardians but the humans’ callous use of the planet and their wavering belief in forces, beyond those proven by science, prevented her from waking them. The fire demon known as Markolopulous, Markos for short, escaped his confines from beyond the veil that separated the Abyss from the mortal world. A mortal, who dabbled in the power of magic, had made a circle precise enough to open the veil and allow the demon’s escape.

The goddess had tried to summon her champions and found her power weakened from the declining belief and the damaging garbage in the world. Unable to wake her charges, she was forced to watch as the demon took up residence in France, and began using his influence to shape the world to his liking. After spending time collecting the necessary resources, Markos helped to finance the research to build ships capable of reaching other worlds. He also worked to weaken the goddess more as he had products made that helped to generate even more disregard for the planet and Mother Earth was fading from the world. Markos enjoyed the chaos he built for a long while.

Prologue

     On June fifth, two-thousand four, a cold mist was descending on the town of Reginae Curia, which sat in the shadow of Black Mountain, near Reno, Nevada. Within this walled-in community a stately three-story manor house was bearing witness to an evil that had lain dormant for millennia. Nestled within the second floor of the house was a room lined with mirrors and was host to a malevolent presence. This presence glowed with a sense of victory as it watched the scene unfolding within the summoning circle, controlled by its chosen mortal child. A rift was forming in the veil between the material world and the abyss. Soon the presence would send forth its deviant creations to begin its unholy war. Soon it would find its way back to the material world and it would bathe in the blood of mothers and children. Soon the rift grew large enough and the presence sent forth the first of its brood.

“Go my children! Bring me my sacrifices! Bring the terror that will open the locks on my prison!”

Mafrita and the lieutenant each had Snakebiter side arms but they were pinned down as Mabina continued her assault. The blue-tinged, amber-eyed, intelligence officer was speeding around the corner of the barn to finish off Mafrita and the traitorous lieutenant when a laser shot came from the front of the house. Arielanna had heard the commotion and came out bearing her own Snakebiter. The shot hit directly on the engine of Mabina’s glider and the green-gold Molrhevian was dumped onto the ground for the second time, which did nothing to improve her temper. Mafrita, Arielanna and the lieutenant surrounded her which prevented her from getting a weapon up to finish her task.

“So you work for the High Priestess, as well, Mabina?” Asked Arielanna as she came up and ripped the woman’s weapons from her, “We had thought the only people in on the conspiracy were priestesses. How many others know outside the Order? Councilor Ri’Bana perhaps, who else?”

“That fat pudgy councilor has too big a mouth to be allowed to know. I was recruited because of who my mother is and the skills I have. Other than the Prelates and the High Priestess only a handful know and I will not tell you their names. Why all this fuss to protect the males? They are nothing but brutes who should never be allowed to come back.”

“That is not a decision for any mortal to make. Only Rheva has the right to make choices like that and if she didn’t want us to have our males she would have stopped us from being able to bear them rather than leave us to suffer their deaths.”
